Western US Swept by Wildfires
The western area of the United States are swept by savage wildfires, authorities reporting a small success in their battle with the blazes on Monday after rain fell in several regions.

Officials from South Dakota reported the death of one person who tried to save some of his goods from the burning house, 27 residences homes being destroyed by the fierce blaze. An amelioration was observed last night, as the strong wind fueling the fire eased off and some light showers helped the firefighters’ work.

Similar situation were in California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, New Mexico, Washington state, Oregon, Idaho and Montana, where firemen are engaged in a tough battle with flames caused by drought.

The dry terrain is a real catalyst for the wildfires started accidentally, bringing new forests and steep areas in the path of engulfing flames that parboil the air even more since last week.

Three more fatalities were reported in Utah last week, smoke billowing from timbered areas covered a highway and provoked an accident, that killed two more people during the weekend.

More than 121,500 hectares were ravaged by the merciless wildfire in Utah, the blaze threatening hundreds of homes, authorities standing by to evacuate the residents from the path of what is said to be the worst brushfire in Utah’s history.

Hopeful news came from California, where the firefighters announced the blaze destroying the Inyo National Forest is close to be contained, after a unfortunate event was about to rise the death toll.

”Things went well yesterday and last night and we're just hoping to really get a handle on this today,” Nancy Upham, spokeswoman for the US Forest Service told journalists Monday.

A helicopter aiding the firemen went down in a forest due to unknown causes, injuring the pilots.
