Ferrari's Felipe Massa emerged victorious at the Turkish formula one Grand Prix and was closely followed by his Ferarri team-mate Kimi Raikkonen, who crossed the finish line 2.2sec after Massa. McLaren Mercedes’ Fernando Alonso completed the podium.
Britain's Lewis Hamilton had to settle for the fifth place, and now his title lead over Alonso narrowed to just five points with five races to go. The Englishman was leading on lap 43, with his final pit-stop very close, when the right front tire of his McLaren suddenly burst and sent him sliding off the track.
The star rookie managed to coax the car back to the garage with the loose tread flapping and partially destroying the associated front wing, but it cost him a certain third place.
This is Massa’s third win of the season, and fifth of his career to close the gap to Hamilton to 15 points, while Kimi Raikkonen is 16 adrift after coming home as runner-up.
BMW's Nick Heidfeld ranked fourth, while Kovalainen finished sixth, Rosberg seventh, with the final point going to Kubica.
Coulthard arrived 10th, with Button 13th and Davidson 14th.
In the constructors' championship, Ferrari closed the gap between them and the leading McLaren to just 11 points.
