Huston Rockets topped San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday night, after suffering their first defeat of the season in the game against Dallas Mavericks 107-98, on Monday.

Yao Ming helped the Rockets gain the control of the game by scoring 28 points and 13 rebounds against the previously unbeaten Spurs 89-81, as they managed to get over the loss on Monday, with an outstanding effort at the Toyota Center.

Shane Battier nailed 12 points for the Rockets (4-1), the same as Tracy McGrady, while Bonzi Wells added another 14 points and 15 rebounds, ending the Spurs’ efforts to a 37 percent field goal shooting.

"After losing a tough game last night, we showed our character. And to defeat the world champions at home was big for us," said Wells, adding that "If you can't get up playing on a high against the world champions, then you shouldn't be playing this game."

Also, Mike James scored 13 points, dominating the Spurs by 40.7 shots from the floor and 18 turnovers.

As for San Antonio, Tony Parker scored 21, outrunned only by Argentinean Manu Ginobili, who added 23 points, while Tim Duncan only had 14 points on five-of-15 shooting while pulling down 10 rebounds.

Even if the Spurs made big efforts to drop the difference, with Ginobili scoring 15 only in the last quarter, including two free throws that brought the San Antonio team to within 79-72 with just less than three minutes remaining until the end of the game.

Unfortunately for the Spurs, Yao scored four straight points for Huston, while Parker sliced the difference with a three-pointer, getting the Rockets to 8 points ahead with a minute and five seconds before the game’s ending.

The game ended with the score of 98-81, making McGrady say after the game that "Those guys do it all."

"For us to execute, defend and rebound - if we can do that on a consistent basis, we're going to be tough to beat," he added.
