Apple Settles in Order to Close ThinkSecret Web Site
Following a long- run legal action between Apple and the ThinkSecret Web site, a settlement was reached, under which the site will be closed, due to the fat that the site was revealing details of the devices that were expected to be launched in the future.

The suit was filed in January 2005, against the site that published details that were still secrets for the public, such as a Macintosh computer, called the Mac mini, whose details were revealed two weeks before its official launch.

The fan site was run by Nick Ciarelli, a Harvard University student.

Apple demanded that the site reveal its sources from whom it found out the details of trade secrets, making efforts which were thought as an intervention into press freedom.

Neither one of the two parties did not say that the fan site revealed its sources, but in exchange it gave a few other details.

"Apple and ThinkSecret have settled their lawsuit, reaching an agreement that results in a positive solution for both sides," ThinkSecret said on its web site. "As part of the confidential settlement, no sources were revealed and ThinkSecret will no longer be published."

"I'm pleased to have reached this amicable settlement, and will now be able to move forward with my college studies and broader journalistic pursuits," Ciarelli said.

Nick Ciarelli, the creator of think secret when he was the age of 13, declared for the Wall Street Journal that the settlement was very profitable for him and that he is happy that it gave him the possibility of developing a startup company, continuing his study and his pursue in journalism.
