Uma Thurman’s Stalker To Spend One Year in Prison

Jackson Jordan, the 37-year-old man who for the past two years has been giving actress Uma Thurman a hard time by sending her hundreds of e-mails, phoning to her house for too many times and even walking around her Greenwich Village town house, was found guilty for two misdemeanors, one of stalking and the other one of aggravate harassment.

Manhattan State Supreme Court convicted Jordan of Maryland on Tuesday. Now the stalker faces up to one yare in jail. Furthermore, the former mental patient was ordered to spend one month in jail to undergo psychiatric examination before he is sentenced.

Judge Gregory Carro said “I was disturbed by the things I learned about the defendant during the case.” Jordan’s lawyer, George Vomovolakis vehemently opposed the decision of placing his client in a Manhattan jail saying that he had previously been assaulted in jail. As a result, officials said Jordan was placed in protective custody.

The panel which deliberated for about five hours since Monday was formed of six men and six women. According to one of the jurors, the action that made them take this decision was Jordan’s uninvited visit to Thurman’s home. "He stepped over the line when he went to her house," said the juror, who identified herself only as Marsha.

The stalker came in Manhattan and started searching for the actress’ home being inspired only by a photograph he had seen in a magazine. He made visits to the home while Thurman was away on vacation, sometimes sitting on the front stairs and slipping letters through the door.
