Howard Stern Humiliates Dolly Parton, Threatens Lawsuit

Country music singer Dolly Parton was “hurt and humiliated” by Howard Stern’s stunt on his radio show where she was made to look like a racist. Last week, “The Howard Stern Show” manipulated recordings from one of Parton’s audio books into seemingly racist and sexually graphic sound bites, Reuters reports.

“I have never been so shocked, hurt and humiliated in all my life. I cannot believe what Howard Stern has done to me. In a blue million years, I would never have such vulgar things come out of my mouth. They have done editing or some sort of trickery to make this horrible, horrible thing,” Parton said in a statement, according to the same source.

“If there was ever going to be a lawsuit, it’s going to be over this. Just wanted you to know that I am completely devastated by this,” Parton added. She also hinted at, but did not specifically announce, a lawsuit.

The 3 1/2-minute bit, which is currently circulating on YouTube, has Parton’s voice using the n-word and several four-letter words. It also has Parton’s voice recounting vulgar acts involving her old singing partners Linda Ronstadt and Kenny Rogers.

Dolly Parton is one of the most successful country artists, with 26 number-one singles (a record for a female performer). She has 42 career top-10 country albums, a record for any artist, and 110 career-charted singles over the past 40 years. All inclusive sales of singles, albums, hits collections, paid digital downloads and compilation usage during Parton’s career have reportedly topped 100 million records around the world.
