Google's GMail Labs, Now Available

On Thursday, Google launched its GMail Labs application, that puts together a series of experimental features. According to Google product manager, Keith Coleman, users are allowed to choose which features they want to keep through Gmail's Settings page. After a while, the ones that turn out to be the most popular will be incorporated in Google’s core products.

Out of the 13 new features made available for testing, some were inspired from various environments, while others are 100% Google-made.

One of the features is called Quick Links; it enables users to rapidly find any bookmarkable Gmail area.

We then have Superstars, which gives users the chance to use an entirely new set of customizable icons for message marking. The classic yellow star is now joined by colored stars, exclamation points and question marks in order to better differentiate various types of messages.

Another very interesting feature of GMail Labs is called Email Addict, which brings a "Take a break" link in the top right corner of the webpage. When users click on this link, the Gmail page is covered with a gray overlay and the chat status is set to invisible. Email addicts are given 15 minutes to walk around, stretch out or eat something before resuming their work. In case of emergency, the "Take a break" overlay can be removed by reloading the page.

Take a look at the others as well, decide on your favorites and enjoy!
