It’s WWDC Time

Today, San Francisco is hosting the 2008 edition of Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). The event has been stirring up quite a lot of interest as several new products are expected to be launched on this very special occasion.

It seems that Apple stores have been receiving some "Do-Not-Open-Until-Monday" boxes but at this point, their contents can only be speculated on.

The most anticipated device, the 3G version of the iPhone, has been given an incredibly wide coverage by the media so far. Besides the smartphone, new versions of the MacBook and MacBook Pro are also expected to be unveiled during the conference. Rumor has it that they would come with modified designs and also with a new feature: a multi-touch track pad surface.

The general opinion is that a preview of the Mac OS X 10.6, a.k.a. Snow Leopard, will also be delivered at the event. The new Leopard is scheduled for release in 2009. It is to bring important "performance enhancements and stability improvements," that would solve all its predecessor’s (OS X 10.5) problems.

Other unofficial statements mention the upcoming release of a new service; OS X users are expected to switch from the .Mac online service to MobileMe.

We will very soon find out whether or not at least some of the suppositions were right. Just a few more hours to go...
