Dreamworks and Intel Strike Deal

On Tuesday, Intel and DreamWorks Animation SKG announced their collaboration which is expected to boost the latter’s 3-D authoring tools. As 3-D animated feature films are becoming more and more popular, those involved in their making are always looking for new ways to improve the graphics quality and the production process.

Through the deal, DreamWorks will be granted access to Intel's already launched and also to its upcoming high-performance chips.

According to Jeffrey Katzenberg, DreamWorks chief executive, technology has a very important role in what the company does, as it helps artists tell their great stories. With the help of Intel’s products, a new and innovative 3D movie experience is just around the corner.

One of the first results of the new collaboration will probably be Monsters vs. Aliens; the movie is scheduled to hit big screens everywhere on March 27 next year.

DreamWorks shares went up by 30 cents to $29.06 and Intel shares, after gaining 29 cents, reached $21.

Intel is keeping itself quite busy. Intel Corp. officials announced that the company would delay the launch of its "Montevina" Centrino 2 chips. Although the world’s leader on the microprocessor market was supposed to launch the new technology in either May or June, a new deadline was set for July 14. The entire line of chips will be out by the first week of August.
