Fallout 3 Is Not For Australians

It is now official: Fallout 3 is not going to be seen in the Australian stores’ game sections. The website of Australia's Office of Film and Literature Classification (OFLC) has recently been given an update which showed Fallout 3 in the refused category.

An official statement as to why this happened hasn’t been yet issued. However, there are some ideas going around. Todd Howard, Fallout 3 producer, while talking about the game, mentioned a series of elements that would, in a way, explain Australia’s decision. The game was said to include slavery and drugs, basically maintaining the same scenery found in Fallout 1.

This is definitely bad news for the Australian fans who have been waiting for this game for so long. Bethesda’s first teaser of Fallout 3 was released about one year ago and since then, as the release date was closing in, those who had played the previous editions have become increasingly hyped. Perhaps some modiffications will be possible, in order to make the game a bit less offensive.

Fallout 3 is not the first game to be banned in Australia this year. D3Publisher’s Dark Sector was initially given the same clasiffication, but then a new version of the game was submitted to the OFLC, which managed to get approved. About one week ago Shellshock 2 was considered to be unfit because of its violent graphic content.
