A New Rumor About Apple: A Netbook Underway?
When it comes to Apple and its products, it seems that certain rumors won’t just die, no matter what the officials of the company have said in the past.

Despite the fact that Steve Jobs and Tim Cook have already denied that Apple intends to release a netbook, a new report is making a buzz on the Web.

The tech site DigiTimes.com is quoting a report from the Chinese newspaper Commercial Times, according to which Taiwan-based Wintek will supply touch panels for Apple. Altough the report noted that Wintek “said it does not know what applications the new products are for”, Commercial Times is speculating that a new Apple netbook seems to be the perfect fit for these products.

The Chinese newspaper went one step further and noted that Quanta Computer will be the company responsible for assembling the new alleged netbook.

As for the timeframe of the netbook launch, it was noted that the touch panels would be delivered to Apple in the second half of this year, which means that Apple could release the netbook (if there is any in their plans) in the third quarter of this year.

But don’t rush to start saving money for your new shiny Apple netbook, because so far it is nothing more than a speculation.

There are many analysts who belived that the netbook represents the future of computers and computer makers such as Asus, HP and Sony have already released various models.

Most of the time, these little devices cost almost half the price of a standard laptop and many people are ready to go for a 3-pound netbook with less features and 4-7 hours of battery life, rather than getting better specifications and 10 pounds around their necks.

However, despite earlier rumors and speculations, it remains to be seen if Apple is considering indeed a foray in this market.
