Police in Colorado Spring and the Texas
rangers arrested a Colorado
woman on local charges of pretending to be a girl locked in a basement. She
called the police and allegedly pretended to be a 16-year-old girl victim of an
abuse. The Texan Rangers were in Colorado,
continuing their investigations about the polygamist FLDS compound in Texas.
Rozita Swinton, 33, was arrested for allegedly making false
reports at 6:45 p.m. and afterwards was transported to the El Paso County
Criminal Justice Center, according to the news release.
"This arrest stemmed from an incident that occurred in Colorado Springs in
February of this year," Colorado Springs Police said in a statement.
"The Texas Rangers were in Colorado Springs
yesterday as part of their investigation involving the compound in Texas. They left and
have not filed any charges on Rozita Swinton as of this time," he added.
According to the police, the arrest is related to the
incident in Colorado Springs
which happened in February. Back then, Flora Jessop, a former member of the
Fundamentalist Church of Latter Day Saints, told authorities she had been
receiving calls from a young woman who claimed to be Sarah, the abused girl
from the polygamist retreat, who called for help and was the first person who
announced the police that something was wrong at the Texas ranch.
Following the advices of the Texas
Rangers, the woman began recording all those calls that she received. This
thing helped authorities to find Rozita Swinton and led them to Colorado Springs.
