According to New Laws, Doctors Can Refuse Doing an Abortion
Some doctors and health care workers are afraid or feel uncomfortable when they have to participate in abortions. Many of them feel fear because of religious, social or moral objections which don’t permit them to agree to such kind of surgeries.

The Bush administration obeyed the doctors’ concerns and set out a new law on Thursday through which they will offer a stronger job protection for these doctors and health care workers.

The new rule will be available only for hospitals and health care institutions which receive government money. This will require 584,000 employees to sign a report through which they agree the federal laws that protect the rights of the health care workers. Major hospital doctors’ offices and nursing homes will agree in writing that they respect the decision of other fellow colleagues.

Still, the supporters of abortion rights will try to challenge the new rule. "Planned Parenthood continues to be concerned that the Bush administration's proposed regulation poses a serious threat to women's health care by limiting the rights of patients to receive complete and accurate health information and services," several of them said.

Authorities have added that the new rule won’t interfere in the women’s ability to give birth or to have an abortion. They only tried to protect doctors with moral objections to this kind of surgery which implies a lot of religious and social questions.

The new regulation will be applied in all hospitals 30 days after health officials will have discussed it.
