Partnership between Kirstie Alley and Jenny Craig has come
to an end.
According to an official of the company, Alley would no
longer be spokesmodel for the weight-loss program. On Friday “People” magazine
reported that the vice president of marketing of Jenny Craig’s, Scott Parker announced
that Alley and the company decided to part ways and she no longer would make
appearances in ads for the died program.
“Although Kirstie will not appear in future advertising
endeavors for us, she does remain on Jenny Craig's maintenance program and is
confident that our program has helped her incorporate positive lifestyle
changes that should last a lifetime,” Parker said.
The company has already found a replacement for the “Cheers”
star in actress Valerie Bertinelli, who debuted in ads for the diet program
company in August. Moreover, Queen Latifah joined her in promoting the benefits
of the program.
Kirstie Alley has been on the Jenny Craig program for three
years and lost reportedly 75 pounds. Alley gained more fame with her part in
the TV series “Fat Actress.” However, lately it was rumored that she started
having weight problems again.
Reports have her back to her initial weight of more than 200
pounds and it is suspected that this engendered the end of the business
partnership with Jenny Craig. Parker maintained in the statement that the
actress, despite renouncing on promoting the program, would go on with the
treatment provided by the company.
A rep for Alley couldn’t be reached for comment.
