Adobe’s Acrobat 9 Out Now

Although the initial release date had been set for June 30, Adobe Systems Inc. unveiled its new Acrobat 9 for both Windows and Mac on Wednesday, June 25. The document creating software comes with Adobe Flash technology support and can embed a series of multimedia files (for creating rich PDF documents) as well. The software can be downloaded from the company’s website.

Users are given three versions to choose from, depending on the level and complexity of their work: Acrobat 9 Standard, Acrobat 9 Pro and Acrobat 9 Pro Extended (featuring Adobe Presenter software). Acrobat 9 pricing is as follows: the Standard edition costs $299 to purchase or $99 to upgrade; the Pro edition comes in at $449 or at $159 to upgrade; finally, the Pro Extended version is being made available for $699 and it costs $299 to upgrade.

The company was said to be getting ready to release Adobe Reader 9 sometime in July.

Last month, Adobe released beta versions of Dreamweaver, Fireworks and Soundbooth. Among the new features added to Dreamweaver, we find the Relates Files toolbar and Live view Mode. Soundbooth is a sound editing application; it comes with a very interesting ability: voice recognition; when users play an audio file, the words that are uttered should be written in a text file. As for Fireworks, the website design tool was given a new interface.
