Two protesters embarked on a hot-air balloon and took of from Rostock aiming to fly over the Heiligendamm luxurious resort, but helicopters belonging to German police immediately intercepted the aircraft and forced it to land.

Also on Friday, the crowd gathered near the fence built arround the venue, most of the demonstrators heading for another rally in Rostock. A large number of persons blocked several access gates and mustered by the 12-kilemeters-long fence from the summit’s first day.

The security forces had a hard time dispersing the crowd, that became violent in some parts. Tear-gas, water-cannons and batons were used to push the protesters back and clear blocked roads.

Unfortunately most of the crops located near the Kempinski Grand Hotel war stampeded by the mob, unlashing the anger of local farmers which demand compensations from the authorities.

Friday is the 33rd summit’s last day, as leaders from 18 countries are expected to establish their final plans, after some verbal agreements were reached on Thursday regarding the combat of global warming.
