NBC’s reality show “America’s Got Talent” has its
Season 3 premiere, USA Today reports. “Talent” was TV’s top-rated show last
summer, averaging 11.5 million viewers!
The quest for 15 minutes of fame managed to attract nearly
200,000 hopeful contestants this season aiming for the $1 million prize.
Last season’s "Talent" winner, ventriloquist Terry Fator, signed
a five-year $100 million contract in order to perform at Las Vegas Mirage
casino 48 weeks a year beginning in 2009.
Jerry Springer mentioned that this season’s audition include
“the most exciting and craziest acts on Earth.”
“The guy imitating
Britney has a better shape and legs than she does. A transsexual has completely
transformed into Tina Turner. And there’s a transvestite with a five-octave
range who does an amazing duet with himself,” David Hasselhoff, one of Talent’s
three judges, said, quoted by the same source.
“Certainly, there’s a massive range of talent. Some I’ve
never seen before, some I never want to see again,” Piers Morgan said. The
former British tabloid editor was the winner on NBC’s “The Celebrity Apprentice.”
Morgan was the youngest newspaper editor in Britain
when he took charge of “News of the World” at 28. He later was hired as editor
of the “Daily Mirror” but eventually left after some fake pictures of Iraqi
prisoners being abused by British army personnel were published in the
newspaper.
