Amy Winehouse Cancels Performance at Coachella Music Festival
Amy Winehouse, the soul singer who won five Grammys last year, was forced to pull out from performing at the Coachella music festival in California. The 25-year-old singer has been denied a US work visa because she faces assault charges in England for allegedly attacking a fan in September.

According to Winehouse’s rep, as quoted by People, the artist “cannot go to Coachella because of current legal issues.” Her rep added that her “legal case would not be sorted out in time for her to make the music fest.” She was set to be one of the headlining singers at the festival, alongside Paul McCartney and The Killers.

This is not the first time the troubled singer has encountered visa problems. Last year, she did not attend a live performance at the Grammy awards because the US government would not issue her a visa. But she did not want to disappoint her fans, so she performed live via satellite from London.

The singer recently moved from Camden, north London, to Hadley Wood in Enfield, north London. She won five Grammy awards for her 2006 album “Back to Black.”

The troubled 25-year-old soul singer may say that life is her favorite source of inspiration. Her music, a mixture of various musical genres, ranging from soul, jazz, blues to pop and R&B is the result of a distinctive, unique style. It reflects her struggle with drug and alcohol addiction, as well as self-destructive behavior. She was hospitalized several times for what was reported as overdoses of heroin, ecstasy, cocaine, ketamine and alcohol.
