Angelina Jolie Replaces Tom Cruise in “Salt”
Angelina Jolie has been on the magazines’ front pages since she gave birth to Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline. Paparazzi tried to capture photos from the hospital in France, but the Jolie-Pitt couple was careful to sell the photos with $14 million to People and Hello!.

The new mom now wants to replace Tom Cruise in his role from “Salt,” a Columbia spy thriller. Angelina Jolie’s last movie was “Wanted,” which quickly developed to be a hit movie.

Kurt Wimmer, the screenwriter, will have to transform the screen for Angelina Jolie to fit the character. The screenplay is about a CIA agent who must prove she is not a Russian spy who wants to assassinate the president.

Tom Cruise seemed to be much attached to the role in “Salt” but Philip Noyce, the director of the new production, was also changed a lot of times, so the production has a long story.

“Salt” is the second movie production in which Angelina Jolie is involved at the time being. She is also expected to star in “Atlas Shrugged,” which is an adaptation of the novel of Ayn Rand. She wants to do both of the movies so let’s hope she’s going to handle this issue.

Her latest movie, “Wanted,” has gained nearly $250 million at the worldwide box office. Angelina Jolie plays the role of an assassin in the movie. Tom Cruise’s latest movie “Lions for Lambs” has been a total success and his new movie, “Tropic Thunder,” opens on Wednesday.

It seems that the new screenplay for “Salt” won’t require much of changes to fit Angelina Jolie and the film company Universal already made all their promotions on her image. The movie will not be released earlier than 2010.
