Anywhere I Lay My Head – Scarlett Johansson
Anywhere I Lay My Head – Scarlett Johansson

Scarlett Johansson’s album “Anywhere I Lay My Head” represents her full-length debut as a singer, and it consists almost entirely of Tom Waits covers. The album also includes one original track written by Johansson along with David Andrew Sitek. David Bowie makes an appearance on two songs, “Falling Down” and “Fannin Street.”

Johansson’s sentimental album is a hybrid of jazz, blues and Indie rock delivered with a backdrop of nature. Filled with stories of love, regret and the refusal of growing old, the CD opens with first track titled “Fawn,” a melody with somber tones and full of emotion. “Green Grass” has poetic lyrics regarding love after death.

Suggested downloads: “Song for Jo” and “I Don't Wanna Grow Up.”

Beautiful Scarlett earned fame with her role in 1998’s “The Horse Whisperer” and subsequently gained critical acclaim for her roles in “Ghost World”, “Lost in Translation” (for which she won a BAFTA Award), and “Girl with a Pearl Earring”, the latter two earning her Golden Globe Award nominations in 2003.

In May 2008, the 23-old actress became engaged to actor Ryan Reynolds. She flashed her diamond ring at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala, held in New York.

Johansson is a Democrat, and in 2004, she campaigned for John Kerry in the presidential election. She also campaigned for Barack Obama in Iowa on January 2, 2008.
