Being the first usually costs a
lot, but for the fellows that have bought an iPhone in summer these words are
even more painful: they must have been very mad when Apple has recently announced
the surprising price cut for its ultimate gadget, the iPhone. And it seems they
have sworn so loud, that Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs himself has eventually heard them
and has had to find a way for reconciliation.
In a move that seems to be at
least as surprising as the recent price cut, Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs has not
only apologized in front of the mad first customers of the iPhone, but he has
even offered them $100 credits. Since the company has announced last Wednesday
it drops the price of its 8 GB iPhone model by $200 (from $599 to $399), the
first customers of the devices have become angrier and angrier, as well as disappointed
because their loyalty has seemed not to count for the company. Steve Jobs
himself has said that he has received hundreds of emails in which the people
are complaining because of the price cut. Although the CEO has apologized through
an open letter on the company’s web site to these people, he has also said that
Apple’s drop of price move is something common in Silicon
Valley, adding that “the technology road is bumpy”.
Jobs has also said that Apple
will give everybody who is still mad (after reading the CEO’s arguing letter)
$100 to spend on any product they would want from an Apple store. So, ironically,
this way the former loyal fans will be forced to become even more loyal to Apple’s
products.
