“Blueberry Nights” and a Brand New Norah Jones
“Blueberry Nights” and a Brand New Norah Jones

For those who know and admire Norah Jones as a singer, or, better said, as Grammy Award-winning musician, her new role, as an actress – she confessed she dreamed about being an actress her entire childhood – should be a pleasant surprise. She never thought this was going to happen, but now, with “Blueberry Nights” she saw her dream come true. The truth is that the entire film, starting with the title, fits her like a glove.

The film is directed by a remarkable Hong Kong director, Wong Kar Wai, 49, who is also a writer. His previous film, “In the Mood for Love,” which tells a mysterious story about a strange kind of love, was a success, considered that way especially by those who admire the Hong Gong director's style. In the light of the new romantic drama, Norah Jones plays with Jude Law and Natalie Portman.

During a previous talk with the director, he told Norah he just wanted to see the actress in her natural style, without taking any acting classes. Even though some of her friends advised her to ignore the director's suggestions, she decided to trust him and to do whatever he might ask her to do. Her fans should know that the actress received the screenplay of the film with only two weeks before shooting started. The situation was completely mysterious.

It was a script that continued to change, going in different directions and trying to capture the unique sensibility of the moment. This was the exact thing that Wong had planned to capture in the character played by Jones.

“Blueberry Nights” tells the story of the distance between two people, suggesting that no matter how close they are, the emotional distance between them can be miles. Those who will see the film will know the lenght needed to overcome the emotional distance.
