Gerson Funes-Reina, 18, was took into police custody and charged with murder after the body of his girlfriend’s mother was found stuffed in a suitcase in the woods near northeast Harris County. Maria Rodriguez, 55, was found on Sunday morning, as Harris County Sheriff's Office said. The woman’s body was discovered by a man who was driving along Guinn Street near 10th Street in northeast Harris County on Sunday. He saw the black suitcase and turned it in to the authorities after he had opened it and had seen the body inside. The cause of the 55-year-old woman’s death wasn’t known immediately, but further investigations showed that her husband had reported her missing since Friday. Neighbors also said that she and her daughter had an ugly argument during the weekend. Priscilla Rodriguez, the woman’s daughter, of only 17 years old, was charged with abuse of a corpse after he admitted to have helped Funes-Reina to put the body inside the suitcase and disposing of it. Funes-Reina was held in the county jail on Tuesday morning and no further information about his situation has been released. Court documents say that the 18-year-old boy strangled Rodriguez and he voluntarily went to their house in a black costume and wearing gloves, also holding a black rope. The boy is held into police custody without bond. Authorities say he is from Honduras and had come illegally to the United States.
