A charter bus that was running off a highway near north of Dallas crashed onto one side on a roadway below. 12 people were killed on Friday at about 12:45 a.m. CT (1:45 a.m. EDT) as the bus rolled over and endangered the life of nearly fifty-five people who were inside it.

The bus crashed about 60 miles north of Dallas, nearly half a mile north of the intersection of highway U.S. 75 and FM 1417.

Lt. Robert Fair together with the Sherman Police Department said that they were confirmed fatalities and the Herald Democrat reported a dozen people to have died in the crash.

A newspaper that reported the number of deaths, also added that the bus was heading to Missouri from Huston carrying fifty-five people and it came to the right side of the lane of an access road near U.S. 75 highway, crashing onto its side.

The injured people were quickly sent to Sherman and Dallas hospitals by helicopter ambulances that arrived to the scene immediately as they were announced. It’s possible that the bus had a tire blown, but investigations are still being made to find out the cause that made the bus to crash.

Traffic on the highway was closed as the ambulances and helicopters could arrive easier at the scene at quickly transfer the injured to the hospital. Sherman is 65 miles north of Dallas.

No markings were made on the bus but it suffered a lot of damage. It was a private charter and it looked just like a tour bus.
