Actor Gary Dourdan, who stars in TV series CSI: Crime Scene
Investigation, was arrested on Monday for possession of narcotics and dangerous
drugs, police officials said, BBC News reports. According to the authorities,
the 41-year-old actor was found asleep in his car by the Palm Springs Police
Department.
It appears police discovered substances believed to be
cocaine, heroin, ecstasy and miscellaneous prescription drugs and paraphernalia
in Dourdan’s vehicle. The actor was jailed for five hours before being released
on bail of $5,000. A court date was not immediately scheduled, the Associated
Press reports.
Police officials mentioned the actor’s car had been parked
on the wrong side of the street with its inside light left on, and Dourdan seemed
to be disoriented and possibly under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Gary Dourdan starred as crime scene investigator Warrick
Brown on CBS’ “CSI” since 2000. The show has been the most-watched drama on US television for
much of its time on-air. The actor is due to leave the show next month, at the
end of its eight series. He also starred in the movie Alien: Resurrection and he
is currently set to play Thin Lizzy’s frontman Phil Lynott, on a biographical
film on the latter’s life.
Dourdan’s agent was not immediately available to respond and
a spokesman for CBS had no comment to make on the arrest of the actor.
