Cameron Diaz’s father passed away, as celebrity site TMZ.com
reports.
The elder Diaz, Emilio Diaz, was reportedly down with the
flu that turned into pneumonia. His death was sudden and it came as a shock to
everyone he knew as he was in good health.
Emilio Diaz was 58 years old and was a popular resident of Seal Beach, Calif.
He was briefly seen starring alongside his daughter in the 1998 movie “There’s
Something About Mary,” in which he appeared as “Jailbird.”
Cameron Diaz was shooting for her upcoming movie “My
Sister’s Keeper.” The production on the film was ceased for the moment, as
TMZ.com also reported.
There was no statement issued by a rep for Cameron Diaz to
comment on the tragedy.
The 35-year old natural blonde is the daughter of
Cuban-American Emilio and an Anglo-German mother.
The actress is due to appear in two other 2008 productions,
“The Box” and “What Happens in Vegas.” The four-time Grammy nominee Diaz was
the voice of Princess Fiona in hit blockbuster “Shrek.” Her other career
credits are 1999’s “Being John Malkovich,” “Vanilla Sky” of 2001, 2006’s “The
Holiday.”
Diaz also starred in the hit saga of “Charlie’s Angels,”
after which she remained close friends with co-stars Drew Barrymore and Lucy
Liu since 2000. In 2007, Cameron Diaz and Justin Timberlake broke up, after
having been an item for almost four years.
