Cell Phones Could Be Linked to Brain Cancer
Scientists brought up a new problem into discussion on Thursday because the Congress has noticed a growing health concern. Are the cell phones responsible for brain cancer?

According to Dr. Ronald Herberman, director of the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute, and Dr. David Carpenter, director of Institute for Health and the Environment at University of Albany, long-term cell phones could really be the cause for brain cancer. "I cannot tell this committee that cell phones are definitely dangerous. But, I certainly cannot tell you that they are safe," Herberman added.

Both Herberman and Carpenter studied Dr. Lennrat Hardell’s study from Örebro University in Sweden, which said that people who use cell phones are submitted to a bigger risk of developing malignant tumors and acoustic neuromas. The acoustic neuromas are the tumors of the hearing nerve.

The study also concluded that people who are under the age of 20 are five times more likely to be affected by the radiation of the cell phones. Still, Dr. Robert Hoover, director or Epidemiology and Biostatistics Program at the National Cancer Institute, noted that the study needs to be checked up again as it hasn’t appeared in any medicine journal.

Hoover also added that study hasn’t found an increase in tumors which is likely to be linked with the first 10 years of cell phones usage. Just because the pattern of the findings said that the tumors have been found on the side of the head where the cell phone is usually held, they weren’t so clearly seen, the study needs to be rechecked.
