Psystar, a small company in Miami, Florida is offering OpenMac, a Mac clone with Leopard pre-installed for $399.
The computer comes with a 2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo CPU, 250 GB Hard Drive (7200 RPM), 2 GB DDR2 667 RAM, Intel GMA 950 integrated graphics, DVD+/-R Optical Drive, 4 USB ports. For an additional $110 the NVIDIA GeForce 8600GT can be added to the package, as can FireWire, for $50. The OpenMac supports Mac-compatible hardware and an EFI emulator. According to Psystar, the "OpenMac is a configuration of PC hardware capable of running unmodified OS X Leopard kernels."
The company’s website goes on to say: "If you purchase Leopard with your OpenMac, we will not only include the actual Leopard retail package with genuine installation disc, but we also include a Psystar restore disc for your OpenMac and we will preinstall Leopard for free so you can begin to use your computer right out of the box."
