Sara Evans, the successful traditional-styled singer from Nashville, engaged to the
radio host Jay Barker, People.com reports. Evans, who is now one of country
music’s most popular artists, received Gold and Platinum certified albums for
“Restless” (2004) and “Real Fine
Place” (2005).
The country singer and Jay Baker, 37, are in a serious
relationship since November, last year. Baker is a former football player at
the University of
Alabama. He is now
successful with a morning show on WJOX-AM radio, “The Opening Drive,”
People.com informs.
The couple hasn’t decided on a date yet, but they are
enjoying the engagement. They are both at the second marriage. Sara Evans was
previously married to Craig Schelske, whom she divorced in September, and they
have together three children. Jay Baker has four children from the first
marriage.
According to E! Online Sara Evan’s separation was not at all
peaceful. Infidelity accusations were made from both sides. The country singer
accused Schelske of having an affair with the nanny and in return her former
husband claimed Evans had at least 11 extramarital affairs, including with her
“Dancing with the Stars” partner, Tony Dovolani. When their divorce was signed
off in September, they dropped the accusations.
People magazine informs Sara Evans spent Easter with her
family but she is going to re-stage her concerts this week.
Sara Evans was the first country music singer to ever take
part in the ABC show “Dancing with the Stars.” Her partner was Tony Dovolani
and with this occasion, she launched a new web site for fans with behind the scenes
material. Evans left the contest in October because of the divorce.
