The latest rumors say that Anne Hathaway might have ratted
out her ex-boyfriend, Raffaello Follieri, to the FBI.
A pal of Follieri declared the rumors made a lot of sense to
him, as Hathaway was “referred to as his former girlfriend in the indictment
even though her spokesman never confirmed they broke up,” the New York Daily
News reports.
Anne Hathaway ended her relationship with Follieri just one
week before he was arrested with an operation resulting in fraud. Hathaway and
the Italian businessman were a couple for four years and he was hoping to
reawaken their relationship at his 30th anniversary party held on the
Capri island, when the young actress decided to break up.
Shortly after, Follieri was charged with posing as an agent
of the Vatican and attempting to sell not wanted Catholic property at reduced
prices, and obtain millions from investors.
Follieri’s friend said that Hathaway might have revealed a
lot of information to the FBI, and “the feds held off on arresting Follieri
until she was out of the country,” in return for her cooperation.
The 29-year-old businessman, who faces charges of wire fraud
as well as money laundering, could spend up to 20 years in jail if convicted.
He is currently held on a $21 million bail.
