Actress Sandra Bullock and her husband, Jesse James were involved in a car accident last night, after a drunken driver hit their private car in Gloucester, Massachusetts, police officials said, according to Boston Herald.
It appears that at 11 p.m Friday night, the pair was being driven by Mark Hussey, 54, to their hotel in Eastern Point. Suddenly, a gray Subaru station wagon jumped lanes on East Main Street and smashed into their vehicle (SUV), policemen said. However, no injuries were sustained in the car crash.
Lucille Gatchell, the 64-year-old driver of the Subaru, was arrested following a field sobriety test, where she registered two-and-a-half times the legal limit. “It’s unfortunate. But it shows you that no one is immune from drunk drivers, no matter how famous you are,” Lt. Gerry Cook of the Gloucester Police Department said. “It appears to be her [Gatchell] first offense,” Cook added.
Gatchell was charged with operating under the influence of liquor (DUI) and a marked lanes violation (crossing the white line). Police officials said she was bailed out early this morning. The Boston Herald tried to contact her, but the woman issued a “no comment” regarding the accident. She is due to be arraigned in Gloucester District Court on Tuesday morning.
Sandra Bullock is filming the romantic comedy “The Proposal” which also stars Ryan Reynolds, Mary Steenburgen and Craig T. Nelson, in Rockport, Mass. So far, she and her husband did not release any statement in reference to the car crash.
