Earthquake in China Kills at Least 22 People
Sichuan, a town in the south of China, was shook by an earthquake of 6.1 magnitudes on Saturday. Rescue crews headed to the scene on Sunday to find 22 people dead and hundreds of injured people.  The earthquake killed 17 people in Sichuan and 5 others in Yunnan, a near province.

The China Earthquake Administration put the death toll at 25 as they didn’t know yet how many people were buried and trapped under the rubble. 361 people were injured and the quake shook 31 miles southeast of Panzhihua city in the southwestern corner of Sichuan.

In Panzhihua city nearly 400 houses were destroyed by the quake and another 1,000 houses in the town of Liangshan collapsed. The CEA said that 300 aftershocks were about to affect the region by Sunday morning measuring 3.3 on the Richter scale.

3,400 tents and 2,000 quilts were quickly sent to the affected regions by the Yunnan Red Cross Society. Still, heavy rains and the rugged terrain in the area made the searches and the help trying even harder.

A primary school in Panzhihua was used to build a shelter. The evacuees were wrapped in quilts, including children and the elderly. They lay on plastic sheets and mats on the ground, footage of the China Central Television showed on Sunday.

Another earthquake shook Sichuan on May 12. The quake reached 7.9 magnitudes and it nearly killed 70,000 people. The calamity left 5 million homeless people and the aftershocks lasted too much than the people could bare it.
