Eight Teenagers to Be Tried As Adults for Kidnapping and Battery

The six girls and two boys who have beaten a 16-year-old teenager leaving her with several injuries were tried today for the first time. The eight teenagers were said to be treated just like the adults, considering the seriousness of the situation. Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said that "the piece that you are seeing on television is after they knocked her unconscious, and she had regained consciousness."

Apparently the girls and boys who have done this horrible thing explained that Victoria Lindsay from Lakeland, the victim, used “trash-talking” with them. As a result they took the girl to a home where they brutally beaten her while videotaping the scene. Moreover, they threatened to post the video on MySpace or YouTube. Victoria ended with a concussion and damage to her eye and ear, but also with some emotional scars. Talisa Lindsay, the victim’s mother said "How can you recover? Honestly? When something like this tragically happens to you? It will probably affect her for the rest of her life.”

The teens are being charged with kidnapping and battery. If found guilty, they could face life in prison. The 14-year-old April Cooper, 17-year-old Britney Mayes, 15-year-old Kayla Hassell, 17-year-old Brittini Hardcastle, 16-year-old Cara Murphy and 17-year-old Mercades Nichols are the accused girls, while 17-yer-old Zachary Ashley and 18-year-old Stephen Schumaker are the boys who participated at the attack. Moreover, Mayes , Hardcastle and Nichols also face a third-degree felony charge of tampering with a witness, which carries a maximum of five years in prison.

The oldest, Schumaker, had posted bail for charges of false imprisonment and felony battery and was released April 4 from Polk County Jail. The rest of the teenagers were taken from the juvenile assessment center to jail.

These six young girls, if any of them do jail time, will get off easy in comparison to what they did to Tori. Beating up Tori as a gang was big time for them. They really thought they were hot shots. But once they become residents of a jailed facility, they will know what true pain is. Each of them will be treated to the company of other girls ten times more ruthless than they could ever be. Daily beatings by total strangers will be their breakfast, lunch and dinner. And while these girls have time to soak in the reality of their actions, their parents can think about how much money they have to pay Tori's family in the upcoming civil trial(s).

That's not too much. They kidnapped and tortured a girl. The guys should get castrated and the girls should have their filthy snatches sewn shut and their clits snipped off with cigar cutters.
WOW!

I am actually glad to see everyone's outrage over this story.

The teens are bound to only get worse as they get older and it may even escalate to abusing their own children or offspring, if not addressed in a serious way immediately.

These acts show NO appreciation for life and each have a total lack of self respect or self worth.

NO MATTER WHAT, this conduct is heartfelt sad and sorry.

live in prison? for kicking someone's ass? am i the only one who sees this as amazingly too much? there are drug dealers who get away scott free every day, but when prosecutors feel they can get an easy conviction, they jump all over the kids. the pendulum has swung too far

Comparing someone who deals drugs (and by the way, people who deal drugs don't force their products on anyone. People come to them) to a bunch of cowardly people who can't fight one on one and prefer to ambush someone is ridiculous. The 8 people should all get life, to set an example. Leading someone to a house and then ambushing them and preventing them from leaving, while beating them savagely for over 30 minutes is excessive. If someone talks trash about you and you want to settle it with a fight, thats fine, but be honorable about it. When the person can't take any more you stop, you don't beat them until they unconscious.

If it was up to me I'd happily execute the bunch of them and do the world a favor.

I am glad that they will be held accountable for their actions. Eveyone should know by the age of 10 that you have to be accountable for your actions. This will serve as an example that parents need to wake up and realize the children they raised are not the perfect little angels they might think they are.
lets support the victim

Victoria has been hurt bad--physically, emotionally, and we need to support her. She was damn near killed by a viscious attack in the house of a friend (so much for a safe haven). She was beaten after she was knocked unconscious. She did not throw the first punch, the last punch or any punch. She will be left with visual and hearing loss, and the concussion may lead to brain damage. My opinion is she is lucky to be alive. Lets support her in any way we can--a contact number for flowers and funds. We stand by the victim--we must. The attackers will get their due--count on it.
