Extreme Skiing Star Billy Poole Dies in Crash After Cliff Jump
Extreme skiing star Billy Poole died on Tuesday at the age of 28 during the making of the Warren Miller ski film in Utah, the media reported on Wednesday.

Poole suffered an accident while performing a ski jump from the cliff called the Wolverine Cirque, but he failed to land. The injuries that occurred when he hit the rocks in the back country of Big Cottonwood Canyon, between Solitude and Brighton ski resorts, according to the Salt Lake Tribune.

Poole was filming in the area with Boulder, Colorado based Warren Miller Entertainment.

He was first reached by the ski patrollers and he was immediately flown by helicopter to the University Hospital, where he was declared dead at about 1:30 pm.

"Billy was an exceptionally hard worker and an exceptional skier," Jessica Kunzer, a spokeswoman for Ski Utah, told the Deseret Morning News.

"This is a huge blow to our local ski community. He was a really great guy," Kunzer added in grief.
