Guitar Hero And Rock Band - Going For The Beatles
Guitar Hero And Rock Band - Going For The Beatles

According to The Financial Times, Beatles representatives have received visits from both Activision (maker of Guitar Hero) and MTV Games (maker of Rock Band) people. It seems the two companies are looking for a way to bring the legendary band aboard, in what was said to be a deal that "could be worth millions of dollars."

For reaching such an agreement, the parties involved would also need the approval of record label EMI (owner of the Beatles' master recordings) and that of Apple Corp. (manager of the band’s interests).

Activision has been doing very well lately; the company is expected to soon launch two special editions of the Guitar Hero game featuring Aerosmith and Metallica.

Although engaged in a close competition with Rock Band, Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, launched in October 2007, has become the best-selling single-year video game title of all time, regarding both units and total revenue.

Activision Inc is planning to add drums, bass guitar, and microphone to its Guitar Hero in order to complete the experience the product is meant to take players through. Guitar Hero World Tour will be released sometime after the summer and will feature wireless instruments and a music studio where users can create original songs (no vocals included unfortunately).

Rock Star’s launch on Nintendo’s Wii console is expected to significantly boost game sales. It will cost $169 and it will be released as a Special Edition bundle, which will include the software, a wireless guitar, drums and a microphone, while stand alone instruments are set to launch on the same day. The game will come also with 63 songs and five bonus tracks.
