H2B Visa Restrictions Hurt US Businesses
Following the Congress’ restrictions regarding the H2B visa program, business owners in the United States, and especially those in the tech field, said that the new imposed limits could potentially hurt the US economy, as it is difficult for them to find skilled workers.

"We will weather the storm, but it's very, very difficult to make it work," said Dan Musser, whose family owns Mackinac Island's Grand Hotel, which hires about 375 people each summer on H2B visas.

As lawmakers have cut the H2B program nearly in half, this decision is expected to hurt businesses in ski resorts, circuses in California, hotels and landscapers, as well as many others, which were usually hiring guest workers for a season.

However, "There's no reason to have H2B visas at all," said Mark Krikorian, executive director of the Center for Immigration Studies, a Washington think tank that supports restrictions on immigration.

Krikorian believes that employers should increase wages in order to attract Americans to jobs that were usually filled by foreigners, based on a myth that US citizens are not willing to have some particular jobs.

"Employers need to increase wages, change benefits or come up with new ways of recruiting," he said.

Amid the rising US jobless rate, the administration is trying to ameliorate the current state by allowing fewer foreigners that could potentially steal a job from an American inside the country. However, business owners do not agree and believe that it is much easier and more affordable to hire skilled foreigners with lower expectations.
