Destiny Hope Cyrus, the 15-year-old actress and singer who
plays the role of Hannah Montana, has filed papers in Los Angeles County
Superior Court to change her name into Miley Ray Cyrus. TMZ reports that the
daughter of Leticia and Billy Ray Cyrus wanted to do that in order for her
legal name to be the same as her “commonly used name.”
Furthermore, Miley Cyrus’ parents will have to publish a public
notice of their daughter’s name change in order to make it official. According
to TMZ, the singer first talked about her wish to legally change her name in
January this year.
Jason Tanner of skinz.org where her wallpapers are some of
the most downloaded on the site said: “Miley Cyrus or better known as Hannah
Montana is one of the most popular singers/stars today and the name change just
makes it easier for everyone who call her Miley anyways.”
Miley has said that her name comes from the nickname that her
father gave to her when she was a baby, “Smiley Miley,” explaining that it was inspired from her sunny disposition. The tween hit “Hannah Montana” hosted by
Disney Channel shows Miley playing the role of a teen who hides her singing
stardom. A movie of the series, starring Miley Cyrus and her father, called “The
Hannah Montana Movie” is set to begin its production in the spring.
Moreover, the father and daughter are going to host the
Country Music Television Awards ceremony at Nashvilles’s Belmont University
on April 14. According to E! News, Miley and Billy appeared in the box
office-topping 3D concert film “Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds
Concert Tour.”
