Surprise package Hoffenheim will be aiming to keep their place at the top of the Bundesliga when they visit Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday.
The newly-promoted village club are the only side with maximum points following two victories without conceding a goal, and Leverkusen coach Bruno Labbadia warns that the good start is no fluke.
Hoffenheim is no unknown quantity for the former striker, who faced them in the second and third divisions as coach of Greuther Fuerth and Darmstadt.
"I have great respect for what has been achieved there. Nothing has been left to chance," he said.
"This is something I have to make clear to my team. These six points are no accident. They are really strong."
Both Hoffenheim and Leverkusen are pursuing similar policies in signing young players and promoting youth development, and have the two of the youngest sides in the league.
Hoffenheim's team that defeated Borussia Moenchengladbach 1-0 last Saturday had an average age of 22.87, well below the Bundesliga average of 26.43.
Leverkusen were buoyed by a 2-0 win at VfB Stuttgart on Saturday to make up for a home defeat to Borussia Dortmund in the opening game of the season.
Meanwhile defending champions Bayern Munich, still seeking a first league win, take on visiting Hertha Berlin in one of Sunday's two matches.
Coach Juergen Klinsmann has again lost Turkey midfielder Hamit Altintop, who still has pain from the right foot he fractured in March, but Argentina's Martin Demichelis should be back to bolster a shaky-looking defence.
The question for Klinsmann will be whether to persevere with Germany striker Miroslav Klose who has scored just one Bundesliga goal in 2008, back on March 1 last season.
Italy striker Luca Toni, the Bundesliga's top scorer last season, is now back to fitness, and Lukas Podolski - who again found himself on the subs' bench in the 1-1 draw at Dortmund last Saturday - is itching to play.
Bayern on Wednesday sold left-back Marcell Jansen to SV Hamburg, and the 22-year-old Germany international could make his debut when Hamburg travel to Arminia Bielefeld.
Brazilian midfielder Diego returns from Olympic duty with Brazil to give Werder Bremen more options for the trip to promoted Borussia Moenchengladbach.
Schalke 04's injury woes appear to be easing, with midfielder Jermaine Jones back in the side and Peru striker Jefferson Farfan close to fitness ahead of the Ruhr derby against visiting VfL Bochum.
Schalke have begun the season brightly with a win followed by a draw away to Bremen last Saturday, but suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat at Atletico Madrid in the Champions League's last qualifying round on Wednesday.
"Of course, this defeat hurts for the fans and the team. Now we have an important match against Bochum in the Bundesliga and we have to be in good shape," coach Fred Rutten said.
Undefeated Wolfsburg meanwhile entertain Eintracht Frankfurt, while Energie Cottbus will be seeking a first win when Borussia Dortmund are the visitors.
In a match Sunday, Stuttgart face Hanover, while on Friday evening promoted Cologne travel to Karlsruhe.
