Playboy’s boss, Hugh Hefner broke up with his 28-year-old girlfriend, Holly Madison. The publisher said that he had been "down in the dumps" about the split. Holly Madison is one of “The Girls Next Door” star on E!, where she plays together with Kendra Wilkinson and Bridget Marquardt. In the sitcom, they all live in the Playboy mansion, owned by 82-year-old Hugh Hefner, as his girlfriends.

During a telephone interview, Hefner said that "if Holly says it's over, I guess it's over. She's still here in the house. Until a few days ago, we were still sharing the same bed." The Playboy publisher was, though, a little surprised when Holly Madison talked to him about breaking up.

It seems that Hefner was expecting this after he had said her that they would never get married or have children. Holly Madison said in a video on TMZ.com that she had broken up with Hefner but she is still working at the sitcom with Wilkinson and Marquardt.

Still, Hefner opened up about their relationship, saying that Madison knew about all this stuff with marrying and having children since six months ago. "The fact that she was depressed after that, I didn't know at all. That was a revelation in the last days and weeks,” he said.

“Quite frankly, we thought when the time came, we would make a combined statement and we expected that combined statement would be somewhere in the weeks and months ahead," the 82-year-old Playboy boss added.
