Raffaello Follieri, 30, was caught red handed by the police after he made a great amount on money, based on a big lie. He tried to sell church properties, mentioning his relation with the Vatican and telling he could obtain these lands at a low price, but neither the relations nor the lands existed. He got a contact with Burkle and Bill Clinton, but Burkle found out about Follieri’s false business and sued him.

His first trial began in April 2007 and he was sued in October 2007 for failing to pay $250,000 to a D.C. public-relations firm. This year in April, he was caught after writing a check for $215,000 when his bank account showed he had only $39.08.
He was arrested at the beginning of July and investigators are still looking for proves.

Anne Hathaway, Follieri’s girlfriend, broke up with him immediately after the police arrested Follieri at his condo. The FBI took the actress’ journals, photos of him with Hathaway, Bill and Hillary Clinton, Pope John Paul II, documents, watches and all that could help them reveal Follieri’s fake business.

He has been charged with 11 counts of fraud and he is still under arrest at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York. Hathaway wasn’t charged by the police since she ended his relationship with Follieri.

She changed her phone numbers so he won’t contact her again, and Follieri seems to believe than Hathaway, 25, was involved in his arresting.
