Israel decided to respond to the series of attacks launched by the armed wing of Hamas and bombed military facilities in the Gaza City.
November 25: Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert announce the ceasefire agreement, that is kept for six months. Hamas militants broke the agreement Monday and launched dozens of Qassam rockets in the southern region of Israel.
Several F-16 jet fighters destroyed the headquarters of the Executive Security Force in the Gaza City, killing at least one person and injuring dozens more. According to local sources, most of the wounded persons are women and children that were near the building at the moment of the attack.
The region is torn apart by the bloody conflict between Fatah and Hamas militants, 51 being killed since Sunday and at least six Thursday, as the violence continues despite the ceasefire announced last night. The clashes provoked numerous victims among civilians, a young woman being killed Thursday in the crossfire.
A meeting was due to take place Thursday between Prime Minister Ismail Haniya and Mahmoud Abbas, but the President of the Palestinian National Authority canceled his trip after the air strike launched by the Israeli Air Force.
Ehud Olmert decided to renew the targeted attacks against military leaders after the beginning of the Hamas siege on Israeli territories. At the same time, several tanks moved into the Gaza Strip for “observation purposes only.”
After the movement of ground troops and the air raids the situation became very tense into the region, and e new armed conflict is imminent between the two sides if Palestinian and Israel leaders don’t come to a consensus quickly.
