Katherine Heigl is not leaving “Grey’s Anatomy”, according
to ABC President Steve McPherson. The announcement was made at the Television
Critics Association’s annual fall preview in the attempt of overcome rumors
regarding Dr. Izzie Stevens’ departure from the medical drama sensation.
In spite of the contentious statements the actress has
recently released regarding her role, Steve McPherson declared: “She’s
absolutely staying with the show. There’s an unbelievable storyline for her
this year. We are excited about that.”
Rumors have it that the beautiful Katherine Heigl had a
disagreement with creator and producer Shonda Rhimes. What’s more, online
reports have come up with the idea that the next season’s “Grey’s Anatomy” plot
will include a fatal brain tumor for Izzie. However, Steve McPherson refused to
comment upon any gossip.
Nevertheless, the producers had better make the blonde
doctor a pleasant surprise and offer her character a more appropriate scenario,
because in June, Katherine Heigl informed the Los Angeles Times: “I did not
feel that I was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination
and in an effort to maintain the integrity of the academy organization, I
withdrew my name from contention.”
However, the 29-year-old actress’ actions only intensified
assumptions that the star wanted to leave Seattle Grace
Hospital ineradicably.
One year ago, she provisionally abandoned contract negotiations over salary
disputes, and, after having a box office success with “Knocked Up”,
was said to be longing for more parts on the big screen and less on the small
screen.
