Jiangling Motors Group Company plans to build a car factory in Poland, the daily Rzeczpospolita reported on Thursday. It will be the first Chinese car plant in Europe.
Representatives from the Chinese company are slated to meet with Polish officials in September, the paper cited Peter Bijvelds, a European official for the company, as saying.
Jiangling - which is 30 per cent-owned by the Ford Motor Co - plans to produce 400,000 cars annually, the daily said. Those numbers would beat Poland's current production leader Fiat Auto Poland, which produced some 362,000 cars last year.
The company's best-known model is the Landwind, whose compact version Landwind Fashion is slated to appear this year.
