This Thursday night is a special date for Jimmy Kimmel. No,
he is not releasing another funny ‘love’ video featuring him and Ben Affleck,
it’s something more, more remarkable. It’s the 1,000th episode of “Jimmy Kimmel
Live.”
His show made its debut on January 26, 2003 and even though
it proved a success, nobody expected it to live this long. It may be due to
Kimmel’s great abilities to listen (his previous radio experience had a great
word to say in this) and not to rush to tell his own jokes. It may be because
Kimmel built himself the image of an ordinary man who is just curious about his
guests.
But whatever the reason standing for Kimmel’s show’s
longevity, we have a fact: he has found the recipe for success. There is no
doubt that Kimmel has invented and reinvented his show several time during
these five years and that he has been truly committed to his live
half-hour.
Hollywood A-listers have
been showing up on a regular basis on Kimmel’s night appearances lately and
this is a clear sign that this outstanding figure of 1,000 episodes is not a
coincidence. Tonight starting with 11:35 on ABC, it is reported that Kimmel
will welcome “Desperate Housewives” star Eva Longoria Parker, Kid Rock and
Richard Simmons. It is unsure if they
will celebrate with champagne and a cake sporting 1,000 candles, but it is
certain that Kimmel will be prepared to listen to his guests and ask them the
questions the shrewd viewer would ask.
