Sunday, Emily Leatherman, a 33-year-old woman who has allegedly been stalking John Cusack for a pretty long period of time, was arrested
at the actor’s home in Malibu,
California. Even though a
restraining order barring her to come near Cusack existed, the woman showed up
outside his home this weekend.
Leatherman was caught after a taxi driver reported that a
woman refused to pay a fare for a ride to that area. Deputies arrived at the
24000 block of Malibu Road
at about 7 p.m., and while approaching the scene Cusack told them that he
recognized the passenger and that she had been stalking him.
Steve Withmore of the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department told
Access Hollywood that: "She was arrested and had violated a previous restraining
order taken out against her by Mr. Cusack.” Leatherman was booked on suspicion
of felony stalking, violating a restraining order and petty theft at the
Malibu-Lost Hills station and was held in lieu of $15,000 bail.
John Cusack originally filed the restraining order against
Leatherman in June 2006. LA Times reports that a year ago she was arrested
outside the Beverly Hills
home of Tom Cruise, who also had a restraining order against her. However, the
“Runaway Jury” star said he never met Leatherman, but he was constantly
receiving mail from her.
In the request for the restraining order, Cusack wrote: "This
person is showing unusual interest by stalking, throwing long letters of
interest over my fence in bags with rocks and screwdrivers inside, making
unannounced visits to offices of people I work with in an attempt to meet with
me and listing my address as her own during a recent arrest.”
Furthermore, it appears that the obsessed fan told the actor
that her greatest wish was to have a “normal life and home” with him, and that
if he won’t fulfill her desire she will hurt herself.
