Kate Hudson travelled accompanied by her
rumoured boyfriend Lance Armstrong to Canada over the weekend to help
raise over $1 million dollars for cancer research on a fund-raising bike ride,
People.com reported.
The actress and the cyclist champion were
spotted getting out of a minivan on Friday outside Toronto’s Hazelton’s Hotel, in Yorkville. The
two, who reportedly began dating last month, travelled to Ontario
for a charity event called Ride with Lance, where 40 residents from Waterloo, Ontario,
joined the cyclist on a 117 kilometre ride. Donations were to raise money for
cancer treatment for two nearby hospitals – Grand
River Hospital in Kitchener and Sunnybrook
Hospital in Toronto.
The couple have, if not a great romance, at
the very least a romantic mini-vacation before the race. The pair spent several
days in rugged Muskoka, a northern Ontario
summer holiday enclave, where Hudson’s
mother, Goldie Hawn, has a cabin.
On Friday, Kate took her 4-year-old son
Ryder out for lunch and ice-cream in the trendy Toronto Yorkville shopping
district, People.com reported. The actress was also spotted with Lance’s
children, Luke, 8, and 6-year-old twin girls Grace and Isabelle, while
Armstrong prepared for the race.
In the evening, the two were seen
canoodling in the lobby of their hotel.
“He was laughing and she was laughing and
they put their arms around each other,” an observer told People.com. “It was
sweet.”
After the race, the actress accompanied
Armstrong for a gala dinner at a county estate.
“As a cancer survivor, Lance is very committed
to take on the cause,” a local participant, Tom Wideman was quoted as saying by
the same source.
