This year’s CMT Awards hosts were father and daughter Miley
and Billy Ray Cyrus. But this was essential information before the ceremony,
after it we focus on something else. That’s right, we want to know the big
winners of the Country Music Television Awards!
Kellie Pickler was Monday night’s queen, winning three
trophies at the event. “I Wonder” was the song that brought to the 21-year old
the titles for Breakthrough Video of the Year and the Tearjerker of the Year (a
new category at the Awards). Pickler was also awarded for best performance with
her rendition of the song at the 41st edition of the CMA Awards.
“Thank you, ‘American Idol’, you are the rocket that launched my
career,” Pickler said after her Breakthrough Video win.
Last year’s winner of Breakthrough Video was another CMT
remarkable winner, Taylor Swift! The 18-year old singer and songwriter beat
LeAnn Rimes and Carrie Underwood, taking home the trophies for Video of the
Year and Female Video of the Year for her “Our Song” coming from her
self-titled debut album.
Nashville's Belmont University
event did not forget about Sugarland, being the second time for Jennifer
Nettles and Kristian Bush to win the Duo Video of the Year award. The Collaborative Video of the
Year trophy was handed to Jon Bon Jovi and LeAnn Rimes for
“Till We Ain’t Strangers Anymore.”
The Wide Open Country video award went to Alison Krauss and
Led Zeppelin’s Robert Plant, for their “Gone, Gone, Gone (Done Moved On)”
song.
The Comedy Video of the Year award went to Brad Paisley and
“Online.”
