Kids Choice Awards Queen: Miley Cyrus
Kids Choice Awards Queen: Miley Cyrus

Kids nowadays have the right to choose and they have been doing it for 21 years at the Annual Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards.

This year was no exception and kids chose their favorites, casting 88 million votes to express their opinion, breaking the last year’s record number of 40 million.

The 21st annual edition of the awards was held at the UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion and was hosted by Jack Black. Of course, slime was not absent from the show and Hollywood A-list celebrities were more than enthusiastic to be drenched in the green goo, as a sign of recognition.

The great winner of the Kids’ Choice Awards was (and it came as virtually no surprise)  Miley Cyrus. The 15-year old star of Disney’s “Hannah Montana” won the titles of favorite TV actress and favorite singer. The male singer award went to Chris Brown and Drake Bell received the honor for favorite TV actor.

Johnny Depp and Jessica Alba were the kids’ choices for movie actor and actress this year. “Alvin and the Chipmunks” received the title of kids’ favorite movie this edition. Other winners of the night include the Harry Potter series as best book, “Drake and Josh” as best TV show and popular “American Idol” as favorite reality show. Also, Eddie Murphy received an honor for favorite voice from an animated movie for “Shrek the Third” (Donkey is the best!).

The inspirational award went to Cameron Diaz, the famous actress winning the “Wannabe” prize, equaling the kids’ choosing her as a role model for her activity in promoting environmental causes. Diaz said that it was “the biggest honor of my entire life.” It is not the first time for her to draw the kids’ recognition, she also won an award for burping in 2001.
