For Kirstie Alley, Jenny Craig hasn’t represented just the
company whose spokesmodel she was or the diet program that helped her
lose 75 pounds. For Alley, Jenny Craig is inspiration.
Or at least this is what appears to be, after it was
reported that she is stepping down from being spokesperson for the company the
last week. The 57-year old actress is now announcing that she had the plans to
initiate her own program to help people lose weight more easily.
At the end of last week celebrity news magazine “People”
announced that the three-year partnership between Alley and jenny Craig had
come to an end. Furthermore, on Tuesday a statement released by the actress was
posted on the magazine’s website, stating that she would initiate a weight-loss
program in the near future.
“After lengthy negotiations, regretfully the Jenny Craig
Company and I did not come to an agreement to continue as their spokesperson. I
want to create something new that will help millions of people end the
seemingly never ending fatty-roller coaster ride,” read Alley’s statement. Her
project will be based on innovation and improvement, she said.
She also announced that her own weight-loss brand somewhere
in 2009. Alley didn’t forget to mention her “extraordinary” experience with
Jenny Craig and to thank the company for their support. Moreover, she expressed
her confidence that the two new spokesmodels for the company, Valerie
Bertinelli and Queen Latifah would make excellent work in promoting the
company’s image and wished them luck.
Alley appeared on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” in 2006, a year
after she entered Jenny Craig’s program and astonished everybody with her new
silhouette. She also starred in TV series “Cheers” and “Veronica’s Closet” and
in Showtime’s reality-comedy series “Fat Actress.”
