South Korean fighters scooped both taekwondo Olympic gold medals on offer Thursday as Lim Suejong won the women's 57-kilogram final and Son Taejin prevailed in the men's 68kg bout.

Lim defeated Azize Tanrikulu of Turkey while in the bronze medal matches, Diana Lopez of the United States beat Italy's Veronica Calabrese and Croatia's Martina Zubcic overcame Taiwan's Su Li-Wen, both in overtime.

Son defeated Mark Lopez of the United States 3-2 thanks to a late point-scoring kick while in the bronze medal matches, Taiwan's Sung Yu-Chi beat Germany's Daniel Manz and Turkey's Servet Tazegul won against Peter Lopez of Peru.
